HYDERABAD, FEB 28: Telugu Desam Party president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will soon be writing to party leaders and its senior cadre explaining the circumstances under which the TDP had to back the Vajpayee Government’s resolution on invoking Article 356 in Bihar.
Though the TDP has already explained the reasons for taking the decision against the known stand on Article 356, Naidu thought it necessary to address a letter to the middle-level leaders on this issue.
At a meeting with party leaders at his residence here today, Naidu said the feedback received by the leadership showed that the TDP’s stand was well-taken by a majority of the lower-rung units. "As some leaders still have doubts over the stand, our leader will be writing to them," a senior TDP leader told The Indian Express.
Naidu is also expected to urge the party leaders to end groupism and internal bickering in the TDP, sources said. In fact, internal squabbling led to the postponement of organisational elections in about50 mandals and eight Assembly constituency-level committees last month. When the issue of fixing a date for the conduct of polls to district units came up, Naidu is learnt to have told district-incharges to take them up only after completion of elections to the lower-level committees. He asked them to complete the exercise within 10 days.
