The project to install close circuit television CCTV cameras in the city has again landed in a soup as the shortlisted companies have failed to meet the technical requirements of the UT Administration.

With this, the Administration has now decided to call tenders for the multi-crore project once again. The last date for submission of bids or tenders is November 28.

Three reputed multi-nationals, including HCL; Zicom and Spanco Telesystems and Solutions Limited, had expressed interest in the project and submitted their bids in the first week of this month.

About 156 cameras will be installed at different locations in the city as per the project. The locations include markets, busy roundabouts and intersections on various city roads. While 20 roundabouts and intersections have been identified for the CCTVs, about 28 cameras will be installed at the Sector 17 market at various points and 14 cameras in Sector 22 and 35 markets.

8220;The last date for submission of tenders has been kept as November 28, following which the finalisation of technical bids and subsequent process will be conducted, before the project is finally allotted to a company,8221; a senior UT official said.

The CCTVs proposal has been pending for more than two years. Despite the fact that the Administration has around Rs 5 crore for the project, which is lying unused in their account, the project is getting delayed for one or the other reasons.
