Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Cabinet colleagues were briefed on the ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the Line of Actual Control today by the military operations directorate at an informal gathering of the Cabinet Committee on Security. The Army pointed out to the Prime Minister that there is marginal increase in infiltration while militant activity had also been stepped up.
According to South Block sources, the Prime Minister and his senior Cabinet colleagues were also given a briefing on the recent killings of civilians in Poonch-Rajouri and other incidents.
