
CHANDIGARH, DEC 10: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president Jagmeet Singh Brar, former MP, has been served legal notice on behalf of an Akali Dal MP and several MLAs for levelling allegations of corruption against Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
According to the legal notice, Brar has made “false, baseless and totally unfounded allegations” against the chief minister about taking huge commission from multinational companies in connection with the Bathinda refinery.
Those on whose behalf the legal notice has been served are Chaitan Singh Samaon, MP from Bathinda and Ajaib Singh Mukhmailpur, Sukhwinder Singh Aulakh and Manpreet Singh, all MLAs.
Seeking unconditional apology from Brar, the legal notice stated Badal is a towering personality in whom the people of Punjab have reposed full faith and confidence by electing him as chief minister thrice.
“His life is a saga of sacrifices and services to the people of the state and the country,” they said adding as members of the Akali Dalheaded by Badal, they were deeply aggrieved by such false and unfounded allegations.
They claimed the Rs 11,000 crore refinery project, brought to the state as a result of personal efforts of Badal, would give a big boost to Punjab’s economy.
While threatening legal action in case Brar failed to tender unqualified apology, they advised him to adopt constructive approach in matters concerning the interests of the state.
