SYDNEY, JANUARY 7: After three decades using an alias to escape public attention, the only son of cricket great Sir Donald Bradman has reclaimed the family name.

John Bradman has been using the surname Bradsen since 1972, explaining in a newspaper report at the time that he’d changed his name in a bid to escape “the glass cage” which surrounded him due to public adoration of his father Australia’s most celebrate sporting hero.

In a front-page report, the Sydney Morning Herald said John was introduced as John Bradman when he represented his father at a ceremony to celebrate the naming of Donald Bradman as the Australian Hall of Fame’s Male Athlete of the Century.

John’s decision to use an alias was always supported by the master batsman, who also prefers to avoid public attention.
