BJP slams US for protecting Pakistan

He said there should be a clear perception about Pakistan during the ongoing fight against terrorism and also demanded that bombing against Iraq should immediately be stopped as it was against the UN response. Efforts should be made to mount humanitarian help in the war ravaged country, he added.

Naqvi, who was here to attend a party programme today, claimed the NDA Government had done a lot towards uprooting terrorists in the country but felt that there was still scope for effective efforts for a total solution to the problem.

‘‘The Pak sponsored terrorism is still continued in our country though efforts are being made to deal with it but still we have to make more efforts,’’ he said.

Naqvi added, during last four to five years the terrorists killed or arrested, shot up to 70 per cent more than the cumulative figures of last 10 to 12 years.

He, however, pulled up the Congress-PDP government in J&K for going soft on terrorists which, he said, had increased their morale. Naqvi said: ‘‘The Congress somehow got the impression that the mandate it got in the Valley was in favour of terrorism which explains why it has been soft on the issue and even released few of the terrorists.’’
