The BJP today accused the Congress of giving ‘‘tacit support’’ to the demand for political reservation for Muslims made by the Jamiat-ulama-i-Hind and said it was part of the party’s overall policy of ‘‘Muslim appeasement’’ to regain the vote of the minorities.
BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said that demand for reservation for Muslims in legislative bodies was made two days ago at a Jamiat-ulama-I-Hind meeting in the presence of Congress leaders, including party chief Sonia Gandhi. But none of them spoke out against the demand, indicating the party’s tacit support for it.
