NEW DELHI, May 19: “If the BJP is a cobra, the BSP is a cobri’ (female cobra),” BJP spokesman Yashwant Sinha said today, attempting to shrug off the taunt of BSP chief Kanshi Ram the party’s coalition partner in Uttar Pradesh.

“The comment means that the BJP is the least dangerous of all other snakes (the BSP supremo yesterday likened the Congress to saanpnath and the UF to naagnath and the BJP to a “cobra with open fangs”); so we are happy,” Sinha said when asked to react. Political compulsions obviously leave the BJP with little choice but to laugh off such sniping. On the Women’s Bill he said the party was not in favour of caste-based reservation.
