.

A BJP member on Tuesday made a strong plea in the Lok Sabha against sex education to school children, but Speaker Somnath Chatterjee seemed to disagree.

Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Sumitra Mahajan said that talk is on for giving sex education to students of standard VI.

She said it is not the job of the teacher to impart sex education but such a step was being contemplated as huge funds are available for AIDS control.

The Speaker remarked that there have been different opinions on the subject and what has been said is a “bit controversial”.
