The RSS today called for a more pro-active approach towards terrorism and stated that the Central Government is building world opinion towards a ‘‘decisive’’ step in that direction.

Speaking to reporters here on the eve of a three-day RSS conclave beginning in Indore tomorrow which will be attended by senior Sangh leaders, RSS joint spokesperson Ram Madhav said: “The RSS is for a much more pro-active approach towards terrorism which would include the destruction of terrorist camps at the border.

RSS condemns Jhajjar

NEW DELHI: Speaking to The Indian Express over telephone from Indore, RSS spokesman Ram Madhav said: ‘‘The killing of human beings is a heinous crime. We condemn it in the strongest terms. Whosoever has done it, under whatever circumstances, must face appropriate action.’’ Referring obliquely to the VHP’s alleged involvement in the incident, he said: ‘‘Some vested interests have dragged in the names of certain organisations in the unfortunate incident.” (ENS)

“We feel that the Central Government is working to build world opinion for a decisive step against Pakistan. It is up to the Government to decide on the timing of such a step.’’

He was briefing mediapersons today on what transpired at the meeting held on October 24 at the Prime Minister’s residence.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee, Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani, BJP president M. Venkaiah Naidu, RSS chief K.S. Sudarshan and RSS leaders H.V. Seshadri and Madan Dass Devi.

Madhav said the meeting took place in the context of issues of national importance on which the ‘‘Parivar ke sangathan’’ differed with the Government. He said the issues included disinvestment, economic policies and the fight against extremism.

At the meeting it was pointed out that an informal exchange of views between the Government and Sangh leaders on Government policies and programmes from time to time would help clear the atmosphere of conflict that appeared to have built up between the two, he added.

Madhav said that the Sangh leaders called for a crackdown on terrorist camps across the border at the meeting.

On disinvestment, he said the RSS was not against the process but there were certain reservations and concerns in this regard like whether it was necessary to privatise PSUs which were doing well or whether the Government kept the interests of labourers in mind while taking such steps.
