The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday said it favoured early elections in Karnataka and requested the Election Commission to hold the polls in next February.
“February will be a conducive month to hold elections as examinations are held during April and May. The onset of summer also brings other problems,” BJP’s Karnataka unit president D N Sadanada Gowda told reporters here. Such a step would also put a stop to mudslinging among political parties, he said.
Alleging that the Congress was trying to prolong the elections, Gowda said the Election Commission should not “succumb” to its pressure tactics.
