In its escalating battle against Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav, the BJP today found a new weapon 8212; the holy cow.

Attacking the RJD leader8217;s reported intention to resume cattle transportation by rail, BJP vice-president M.A. Naqvi said the move was aimed at 8216;8216;smuggling8217;8217; cows across the border to Bangladesh where they would be 8216;8216;slaughtered8217;8217; in their thousands.

Pointing out that thousands of cows were transported from different parts of India to Howrah, and then smuggled across the border for slaughter, Naqvi demanded that the Prime Minister himself look into the matter and prevent the Railway Minister from finalising the decision.

Naqvi also demanded that Yadav 8216;8216;apologise to the nation8217;8217; for making brazenly false charges against BJP leader L.K. Advani. Laloo was sourcing his information to a Pakistani website islamonline.net which was a 8216;8216;pro-Al Qaeda8217;8217; site, he charged.

He was referring to the photocopies released by Laloo of a news story that appeared on the portal that claimed that a Pak court was re-examining a 50-year-old case against Advani in which he is alleged to be involved in a plot to kill Md Ali Jinnah. Naqvi demanded that the PM and the Congress clarify whether allegations based on such dubious sources should be aired in public.
