BHOPAL, JULY 31: Opposition BJP members in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly today demanded action against police officers responsible for framing party MLA Tej Singh Sendhav in a false murder case, about three years ago.
Raising the matter during the zero-hour, Karan Singh Verma (BJP) said in 1997 the then superintendent of police for Dewas district, its deputy superintendent of police and other police officials had hatched a conspiracy and implicated Sendhav in a false murder case and kept him under remand for more than three months.
The Leader of the Opposition, Dr Gauri Shanker Shejwar, said because of the conspiracy of the police officials, Sendhav had been forced to spend three months in prison.
Shejwar said the court had recently sentenced to five years’ imprisonment, the person who had filed the report against Sendhav but had not taken any action against the guilty police officials.
Sudhakar Bapat, Dr Sita Sharan Sharma, Babulal Mewra and others of the BJP all began speaking at the same time demanding that the issue be discussed in some form or the other in the house.
This caused a din and nothing could be heard of the proceedings for quite some time.
