SBI reshuffles top slot

MUMBAI– The State Bank of India on Monday reshuffled its top echelon by elevating four chief general managers to the posts of deputy managing directors (DMD). They are S Mukherjee (currently on deputation as managing director at Discount & Finance House of India), D P Roy (SBI, New York), Vepa Kamesem (SBI, London) and YR Radhakrishanan (CGM, personnel and HRD).

The executive committee of the central board of SBI met in Delhi to clear the new appointments. At present, SBI has 10 DMDs.

Reliance board to meet on April 27

MUMBAI — The board of directors of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) will meet on April 27 to consider the audited financial results for the year ended March 31, 1998 and to recommend dividend. The company has sent a notice to this effect to the stock exchanges today. According to RIL release, the company’s sales turnover for the year ended March 31, 1997 was Rs 8,730 crore, operating profit Rs 1,948 crore and net profit Rs 1,323 crore.

MFtrustees role

MUMBAI: The P K Kaul committee appointed by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) to define the role of mutual fund trustees, is expected to finalise its recomendations on April 29. The committee, which met today, is examining the role of trustees and their responsibilities with a view to identifying their specific role in mutual funds.
