Crisil downgrades HM, JK

MUMBAI: The rating of Hindustan Motor8217;s HM Rs 53.74 crore debenture programme has been downgraded by the Credit Rating Information Services of India Limited Crisil from BBB to C. The revised rating reflects a sharp deterioration in the company8217;s risk profile due to declining automobile sales owing to the delay in the revival of the demand in the domestic automobile industry, its large ongoing debt funded capital expenditure programmes and the company8217;s entry in the premium car segment, where the demand has been lower than anticipated.

The outstanding rating of JK Industries Limited8217;s JKIL Rs 141.82 crore non convertible debenture issue have been downgraded by Crisil from BBB to BB. According to a Crisil release, the rating revision is on account of JKIL8217;s continuous increase in financial risk as can be observed by the high gearing levels, low coverage levels and large repayments compared to net cash accruals. The revision in ratings is also on account of the largeexposure of the JKIL in other group companies which is not yielding any cash returns.
