
Car output dips in Nov
NEW DELHI: Indian production of cars fell to 24,477 units in November 1998 from 33,048 units in the same month last year, the Association of Indian Automobile Manufacturers AIAM said in a statement on Saturday. The AIAM said that the production of two-wheelers rose to 278,660 units in November 1998 from 264,398 units in November 1997. It said the sale of two-wheelers rose to 266,482 units in November 1998 from 257,683 units in the same month a year earlier.

MUMBAI: Bharti BT, the country8217;s fastest growing VSAT company, announced the deployment of a 700-site VSAT network for Hyderabad-based Sparsh Communication. This VSAT network will be used to enable a country-wide system for monitoring of truck movement on major national highways and important state highways under the highway automation system project. The order which is worth Rs 12 crore, is the single largest order for deployment of VSATs in the shared-hub VSAT market.

MUMBAI: The UB group spirits division has been ranked the world8217;s seventh largest liquor company in terms of sales by Impact International, a UK-based publication on the alcoholic beverages industry. According to a recent survey conducted by the publication, the company had registered a 26.7 per cent increase in sales over the previous year when it was ranked ninth.
