Amid shouts of Hip, Hip, Hurrah for SJOBA, over 100 teachers of St Johns School laughed, joked and let their hair down at Sip 8216;N Dine as well as the Park outside the restaurant as they enjoyed a special lunch hosted exclusively for them by the St. Johns Old Boys Association SJOBA. 8220;Our teachers have done so much for us, given us a solid foundation and education. So, for Teachers8217; Day, all of us former students decided that we will also help them relax and enjoy themselves,8221; smiles Navpreet Singh Aujla, President, SJOBA. Absolutely overwhelmed with the love and affection shown by the former students, Principal of St Johns, Kavita Das said, 8220;We are truly blessed that they are so deeply involved with the school and giving so much back to us whether it is in the form of this Teachers8217; Day celebration. We are proud of our school, our students and of SJOBA.8221; AT Taj Chandigarh, chefs designed a special menu for teachers at all the outlets. While Cafeacute;17, had an elaborate lunch buffet, Black Lotus, the Chinese specialty restaurant, and Dera, the Indian restaurant, offered regional specialities and all-time favourites. Teachers were treated to a complimentary drink and a 50 per cent discount at all the restaurants.
A two-day workshop in creative writing held by Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi in collaboration with Dev Samaj College for women, had as many as 90 students from ten colleges participated in poetry writing, prose, short story, play-writing, competitions. According the Vice-Chairman of the Akademi, Dr DS Gupt, Prof Neelkamal Puri guided the students in short story writing and Prof Phool Chand Manav in article/essay writing.
