One of the hottest topics of speculation on Raisina Hill these days is choice of the next RBI Governor. All sorts of rumours are afloat, ranging from an extension for Y V Reddy to considering outside experts for the coveted job. However, Finance Secretary D V Subba Rao is by consensus considered the frontrunner in case the Government decides against Reddy getting an extension. For Rao, though, it may present a a toss-up because he is also in line for Cabinet Secretary. He is said to be consulting close friends and many feel he should go for the governor8217;s post but only if the Government gives him a full term.
