MUMBAI, May 20: Bank officers' organisations have rejected lock, stock and barrel the Indian Banks' Association's (IBA) proposal to cover only the basic and dearness allowance (DA) in the wage negotiations. The IBA reiterated its stand to four bank officers' bodies on Wednesday. SR Sengupta, general secretary of the largest bank officers' body, All India Bank Officers' Confederation (Aiboc), told The Indian Express: "This is not acceptable to us. We want wage negotiations to cover all components of wages and the entire gamut of service conditions."Four officers' bodies - Aiboc, All India Bank Officers' Association, Indian National Bank Officers' Confederation and National Organisation of Bank Officers - had the first round of wage talks with the bankers' body in Mumbai on Wednesday. IBA had a meeting with the staff unions on Monday.Nine bank unions, under the umbrella of United Forum of Bank Unions, will meet in Bangalore on June 1 to take stock of the situation and chart out the futurecourse of action.Tarekeshwar Chakraborty, general secretary of the largest bank employees' union, All India Bank Employees Association, had earlier said: "We are prepared for the worst. We will not accept a truncated bilateral wage pact which covers only the basic and DA."At Monday's meeting, the IBA hinted that some of the banks - hitherto covered by the industry wide wage pact - would drop out of the settlement.
