CHANDIGARH, May 15:A Chandigarh Police inspector has been granted bail by UT Chief Judicial Magistrate Sant Parkash in a cheating and breach of trust case.

Inspector Mohan Lal has been directed to furnish a personal bond of Rs 10,000 along with a surety of the like amount. His brother, Om Parkash, meanwhile, has been issued notice for September 9.Earlier, Sector 22 resident Hussan Lal, in a complaint before the court, had alleged the sale of his sister8217;s house by Mohan Lal, holder of a special power of attorney, to his brother Om Parkash without the owner8217;s consent.

The power of attorney had been issued after the accused made a false representation to the owner residing abroad stating that Non-Resident Indians could not purchase property here, it had been alleged. The sale proceeds were never remitted by Mohan Lal and was dishonestly misappropriated by both the accused, it had further been alleged.
