Drama on-field and audience behaviour off it meant the first semifinal of the Durand Cup on Sunday was an action packed affair.

Salgaocar striker Felix Ibrebru missed twice from the spot as the defending champions made an exit from the tournament, going down 4-5 on penalties to Mohun Bagan.

Ibrebru first missed a controversial penalty in the 70th minute of the match, when Salgaocar forced a corner in the 68th minute and the flag kick was flicked by Felix to Bello. The Salgaocar skipper went up in the air but missed the ball and came face down, having been pushed by Mehtab Hossain inside he penalty area.

But the Kolkatans protested and, led by goalkeeper Subrata Paul, chased the referee back to the halfline before the linesmen came to his rescue. But Bagan manged to get away without any warnings for what was a serious offence.
