Badheri shop owners assured compensation

CHANDIGARH, April 16: City Mayor Kewal Krishan Adiwal and Punjab Forest Minister Mohan Lal today visited the Badheri furniture market which was engulfed by fire yesterday.

They went around the market to assess the losses and assured the shopkeepers that they would be compensated adequately. They also assured them that the issue would be taken up with the Punjab government and the Chandigarh Administration for providing immediate relief. The actual cause of fire, however, has not yet been ascertained.

Earlier, the Mayor, along with Vice-Chancellor M. M. Puri and officials of the engineering department of the Punjab University, visited Sector 24 where the residents of Kumhar and Janata colonies would be rehabilitated this year. The process of laying down the system for providing civic facilities to the colony residents will be done by the Municipal Corporation.
