After a successful trip to Islamabad, National Security Advisor Brajesh Mishra is leaving for Beijing this Sunday for the second round of Sino-Indian border talks.
Sources said that Mishra’s meeting with China’s Special Representative Dai Bingguo next Monday is important because Beijing is expected to respond to the Indian proposals on resolving the decades-old border dispute.
These proposals were submitted to Bingguo when he was in Delhi for the first round of talks last October 23.
During the first round, the two special envoys, at the instance of the Chinese, discussed the modalities and parameters for the border dialogue. New Delhi, on its part, spelt out its proposals on the issue. In the second round, the Chinese are expected to take a stand on the Indian proposals.
