February 22: Jolted by a series of court orders restraining the Air Traffic Controllers ATCs from continuing their agitation and the sudden sacking of six senior ATC Guild members at Mumbai and Delhi airports, ATCs have resumed normal work.
Though no official confirmation was available from the ATC Guild in Mumbai that the agitation had been withdrawn, airlines operating here said flights were operating on time since Sunday. 8220;Some flights were delayed on Saturday, but since Sunday morning, ATCs haven8217;t deliberately delayed any flight,8221; said an airport official.
Sources in Indian Airlines and Jet Airways also confirmed ATCs had not delayed any flight at Mumbai airport today. Justice Dalveer Bhandari of Delhi High Court had passed strictures against ATCs for deliberately delaying flights and had directed the AAI management and ATC Guild to adopt a conciliatory approach and end the stir.
A city civil court in Mumbai had also restrained ATC Guild members from continuing their work-to-rule agitation,saying it had put severe constraints on the national exchequer and caused tremendous hardships to innocent passengers.
