JAPAN: The Japanese Government honoured world-renowned film director Akira Kurosawa, nearly a month after his death, with an award usually reserved for sporting and show business greats. Citing Kurosawa8217;s contribution to the world of cinema, Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi presented the People8217;s Honour Award to Kurosawa8217;s only son, 52-year-old Hisao, in a ceremony at his official residence. 8220;I liked Seven Samurai,8221; Obuchi told Hisao in a private chat. 8220;For years, he brought a number of immortal masterpieces to the world and deeply moved people with his vivid pictures and profound humanism,8221; Obuchi said. 8220;He left a brilliant mark on the film history of the world.8221;
