Army School wins trophy

CHANDIGARH, Nov 25: Lala Suraj Bhan Memorial English Declamation contest and the Sir Bakshi Tek Chand Memorial Hindi Declamation contest were held at DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, as part of the 30th all India inter-state, inter-school cultural competitions.

In the Lala Suraj Bhan Memorial English Declamation contest, the participants had a choice of five topics. There were 16 participating teams and seven individual participants. A.K. Dutta, retired director, cabinet secretariat, was the chief guest. Shradha and Vikrant from Army School, Chandimandir, won the trophy, while Lovleen from St Xavier Senior Secondary School was second.

In the Sir Bakshi Tek Chand Memorial Hindi declamation contest, the trophy went to Chetan and Udeksha from DAV English Medium Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, Panchkula. Chetan won the first prize while Sneh from Army School, Chandimandir stood second. Dr Lakshmi Narain Sharma, professor, Department of Hindi, Punjab University, was the chief guest.
