Aqeel Khan wins second leg

Last week’s losing finalist, Pakistan’s Aqeel Khan, defeated second seed Ravi-Shankar Pathanjali of India 7-6 (7), 6-4 to claim the singles title in the second week of the ITF Men’s Satellite circuit.

Khan, who reached the final after some close matches, broke his opponent when he was serving for the first set, and the Indian did not recover from this blow.

It was an unfortunate end for Pathanjali, as he had displayed his backhand to great effect, rattling off a number of winners in the first set. Pathanjali was also troubled by a right calf muscle strain in the second set.
