AMRAVATI, AHMEDABAD, July 17: Four persons, including a woman and a police constable, were injured, two seriously, in group clashes following desecration of a statue of Dr B R Ambedkar in Dhakulgaon in Maharashtra yesterday.

Police said an irate mob damaged a State Transport bus that was passing by the village in Tivasa tehsil. Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Jain said 12 people were rounded up in this connection. The situation was tense but under control, he added.

Trouble erupted in Asra on Sunday last when RPI took out a morcha and prevented some people from performing a marriage ceremony.

Meanwhile in Ahmedabad, a teen-aged boy was killed and four others were injured when State Reserve Police jawans fired two rounds in Haripura locality of Asarva labour dominated areas of Shahibaug to quell bandh-related violence for the second day today.

Curfew, imposed in nine police station areas yesterday, was lifted early today as no untoward incident was reported from anywhere.
