
NEW DELHI, July 15: Another robbery on the city roads was reported today. In a related development the east district police arrested two men, Veer Singh and Anil, for three cases of robbery in the Tilak Marg area three days ago.
A TSR driver was robbed of his vehicle, Rs 250 and his wrist watch in the Ambedkar Nagar police station area last night.
Lalan, a resident of Ghaziabad, hired an auto from a contractor living near Maulana Azad college and was headed to Sangam Vihar to drop off passengers.
On the way back, he was stopped by three unidentified assailants who robbed him. A case has been registered at the Ambedkar Nagar police station.
In the past few days, there have been several such cases have been reported. Police are not sure whether one or more groups are involved.
Two cases of robbery were reported on Monday night. A senior officer in a private firm was robbed of his car, Rs 1,800 and his cell phone by three unidentified assailants in Hauz Khas area in south Delhi.
In the second case, a tempo operator going to Khyala Subzi Mandi area was robbed of Rs 13,000 by four unidentified assailants on scooters.
The two men accused of robbery were arrested after two constables spotted the accused intimidating shopkeepers in Trilokpuri on June 13. They were arrested and a knife was recovered from Veer Singh. During interrogation they told the police that they had been involved in two dacoities in the Tilak Marg area.
They told the police that they along with three other associates 8212; Pappu, Munna and Lala 8212; had looted one Ashok Sen of Rs 4,000 and some documents. A day before that, they had robbed a scooterist, Bharat Bhushan, of his chain and wallet. On the same day they had also robbed a person named Lekh Raj, a resident of Mayur Vihar of his purse on the Ring Road. The police say that a two-wheeler DL3S 2734 has also been recovered from Anil.
Efforts are being made to arrest the other accused.
