NEW DELHI, MARCH 20: In the third murder of a media person in Delhi this year, Anil Rattan, leading bridge player and a freelance sports journalist, was found strangulated and stabbed to death in his South Delhi residence today.

The body of 41-year-old Rattan, with stab injuries, was found lying in a pool of blood in the bathroom of his B K Dutt colony house near Safdarjung airport by police following a phone call from his neighbours, station house officer (SHO) of Lodhi colony police station Vimlesh Yadav told PTI.

Rattan, a bachelor, was staying alone in his three-bedroom flat and maintained little contact with his neighbours or relatives, police said.He had worked as a sub-editor with United News of India and National Herald before freelancing for the Hong-Kong based Asia Week’ magazine and Agence France Press (AFP).

The killers, yet to be identified, made a friendly entry’ into the house and used an electrical cord cut from the air conditioner to strangulate him besides stabbing him thrice with ablunt weapon, which is yet to be recovered.

Though two beds were found ransacked, nothing has been found missing, Yadav said, adding "some known person seems to have committed the crime though we are probing all angles."
