CHANDIGARH, May 25: Anganwari workers from all over Haryana staged a demonstration in support of their demands in Sector 17 here today. They later presented a memorandum to Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal.

According to Anganwari Workers and Helpers Union president Jagmati Malik and general secretary Saroj Vashistha, their demands include implementation of the decision of the Central government for increase of 30 per cent wages of anganwari workers/helpers, treating anganwari workers at par with cooperative employees, provision of summer vacation in anganwari kendras on the pattern of schools, bonus on festivals, maternity leave of upto six months and departmental promotions.

A large number of leaders addressed the rally today, demanding early acceptance of their demands. Among others who addressed included president of the North India SC/ST and Backward Class Employees union G.D. Gaddu, state secretary of CITU Satbir Singh, Haryana Sarv Karamchari Sangh president Sher Singh, Nurses Staff Association president Jasbir Kaur and Mandi Board Karamchari Sangh president Azad Singh.
