“It had been observed in the past that the coach found it difficult to handle 40 players which resulted in many of the players being left out during the training session,” explained Prof Ratnakar Shetty, joint secretary, while dwelling upon the MCA’s decision. “While those under Ashok Mankad would form the feeder stock, those under Lalchand Rajput would be our bench strength,” revealed Shetty while speaking to The Indian Expressthis evening. “Besides, Rajput would also be catering to those who don’t make it to the team, especially when the side is playing away from home,” he added.

Mankad and Rajput would be holding their training sessions simultaneously at the Wankhede Stadium from October first week, informed Shetty.

The probables training sessions would take a break for the A Division Times Shield slated to commence from October 14-28 before resuming for a 15-day camp.
