CHANDIGARH, March 1: The anticipatory bail plea moved by Harinder Singh Mader, accused of cheating a Sector 36 resident for procuring a sword bestowed on his forefather by Mughal emperor Akbar, was today rejected by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Justice R.L. Anand observed: quot;After hearing the counsel, I am of the considered view that the petitioner does not deserve the concession of anticipatory bail. A copy of the order be sent to the Senior Superintendent of Police to consider the desirability of handling over the investigation to the CBI.quot;
Mader was booked in December last year by the Chandigarh Police for cheating, breach of trust, forgery and criminal conspiracy, on Iqbal Singh Gill8217;s complaint. Gill, in his complaint, alleged that a demand draft of 2,50,00,000 handed over by Mader in lieu of the quot;antiquesquot; was returned with an objection stating quot;it was never issued by the issuing branchquot;.
