JAN 6: Local giants Mahindra United and AirIndia will participate in the Air-India Millennium football tournament to start from January 11 at Kalina in northwest Mumbai.
Disclosing this at a press conference yesterday, organising secretary and Air-India coach Bimal Ghosh, said the meet is being held for second year in succession and will be played on knock-out basis.
The other teams which would take part in the tournament include Central Bank, Union Bank of India, Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers (RCF), Central Railway, Bank of India and Bombay Customs.
A separate tournament for local boys has also been organised. Kalina Boys, Airline Boys, MAM Versova, Bandra Packers and other teams will take part in this group.
“We are trying to make it an annual affair so as to promote soccer in this part of the country,” Ghosh said.
