CHANDIGARH, Oct 13: Last years champion Accountant General, Karnataka asserted their supremacy in the meet by defeating AG Himachal Pradesh 25-13, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23, in their last league encounter to enter the semifinal of the All India Audit and Accounts Inter-Zonal volleyball tournament at the Sector 7 Sports Complex here today.

Karnataka will play AG Kerala in the semis tomorrow, who defeated AG Uttar Pradesh 25-21, 25-19, 25-13, in the contest which lasted more than one-hour.

AG Himachal Pradesh, who lost their last encounter managed to sneak through the league stage to enter the semifinal and will meet AG Orissa in the semis tomorrow.

AG Orissa in their match today beat AG Maharashtra 25-14, 25-15, 25-17.

In another match AG West Bengal scored 25-15, 25-17, 25-18 win over AG Madhya Pradesh but that did not save the day for the team as they lost their earlier encounters and are out of the reckoning. The semifinal will be played in the morning session while the final is slated for evening at 3 p.m.

CBSE volleyball
The second Central Board of Central Education (CBSE) Cluster XI volleyball tournament will commence here from tomorrow at the SD Public School in Sector 32.

More than fifteen teams including five in the girls section will vie for top honours in the meet.

Schools from Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh affiliated with CBSE are taking part in the meet. The host SD School are expecting to win the title in the boys section as they have a strong team.
