KOLHAPUR, Feb 16: Close on the heels of eminent Marathi writers like Ram Shevalkar, Dr B L Bhole quitting their posts in the government, senior academician A A Patil has resigned from Maharashtra State Board for Textbooks and Curriculum Research Maharashtra Rajya Pathyapustak Nirmiti Ani Abhyaskram Sanshodhan Mandal to protest against Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray8217;s verbal tirade against intellectuals and litterateurs.
His sent a terse, four-line letter to the board, terming Thackeray8217;s remarks against Marathi litterateurs as condemnable8217;. Another member of the history committee of the board Dr B L Bhole also resigned over same issue a few days ago. The Sena chief8217;s remarks triggered off resignation from eminent litterateurs like N D Mahanor and Vasundhara Pendse Naik Patil.
