JAMSHEDPUR, FEBRUARY 17: The Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Thursday threatened to intensify its opposition to Deepa Mehta’s controversial film Water if it was allowed to shoot anywhere in the country.
Parishad president Dineshanand Goswami alleged that Mehta’s earlier film Fire as well as her upcoming film Water only portrayed negative image of “our culture which can not not be acceptable”.
Stating that the film being produced by foreign fund, Goswami said Mehta had no right to hurt the sentiments of the people.
Asked about some State Governments’ move to invite Mehta to shoot her film in their respective states, the ABVP leader said such attempts were only gimmicks to gain political mileage.
