CALCUTTA, MARCH 14: Abey Kuruvilla’s haul of three wickets for 12 runs saw Bengal collapse to 117 all out in their first innings as the visitors took a 67-run lead on the second day of their Group A match at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday.
Mumbai were 102 for two by close of play — an overall lead of 167 runs and their sights on outright victory. Waseem Jaffer and Amit Pagnis were at the crease with 64 (12×4, 97 b, 131 m) and 10 respectively.
Amol Rane (22) was the only batsman to depart, caught and bowled by Vishal Yadav.
In the morning, Kuruvilla struck in quick succession removing overnight batsmen Devang Gandhi and Vishal Yadav after Bengal resumed at 21 for 2.
Nilesh Kulkarni, Rajesh Pawar and Ramesh Powar then took two wickets each as none of the Bengal batsmen offer any resistance. Only captain Utpal Chatterjee (27), Srikant Kalyani (11) and Rohan Gavaskar (23) reached double figures.
Bengal bowlers were then made to look ordinary as both Rane and Jaffer punished the loose deliveries.
