AAI prepares contingency plan for strike

Anticipating trouble during the 36-hour strike called by the Airports Authority Employees Union AAEU beginning 7 am on August 17, the Airports Authority of India has requested the Indian Air Force to provide skilled manpower for the maintenance of fire services at airports.

Further, as part of it8217;s contingency plan, AAI has written to the CISF, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security and various state governments to deal with any problematic situations which may arise during the agitation.

Meanwhile, AAI sources on Thursday said that the tenure of the Tripartite Committee, which had expired, has been extended. AAEU had alleged that the Tripartite Committee, set up by the government following an earlier protest against privatisation of Delhi and Mumbai airports, had become defunct.
