NEW DELHI, May 25: The alleged rape of a six-year-old girl in the Congress party’s election office at Nathu Colony in the trans-Yamuna area on Friday evening has added a new twist to the otherwise uneventful campaign for the East Delhi parliamentary by-election.
On the orders of Delhi Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, the girl was examined later in the day by a three-member team of doctors from Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital Hospital. While their report could not be ascertained, a police officer said their investigations confirmed the rape.
A case of rape under section 376 of the IPC has been registered at the Mansarovar Park police station against the accused, later identified as Naresh, alias Keshto, on the complaint lodged by the victim’s mother. The victim’s father is a resident of Chander Lok, and is said to be employed as a driver in a private firm.
A hunt has been launched to nab the accused.
