A Six-Month-Old baby died after being bitten by stray dogs in Jaiguda here on Wednesday, the police said. Rithik, the son of a washerman, was bitten by six dogs while he was asleep in his cradle. Other members of the family were washing clothes in a nearby pool at the time of the incident. Neighbours managed to rescue the infant from the dogs, said the police.Rithik was first rushed to Osmania General Hospital where admission was refused since no vaccine for dog bites was available, his parents said. They said that no other hospital was ready to admit the baby.“The stray dog menace has assumed alarming proportions and children fear to venture into the street alone,” alleged an agitated resident of the colony. Some residents criticised the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad for not taking any action against hundreds of stray dogs in the area. Earlier this month, stray dogs had bitten to death two children in Bangalore resulting in public outcry, which culminated in the culling of stray dogs in many parts of the city.
