3 killed, one hurt in accident

Three persons were killed and one seriously injured when a truck loaded with crushed stones ploughed into them on the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur Road here today, the police said.

Three persons were killed and one seriously injured when a truck loaded with crushed stones ploughed into them on the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur Road here today, the police said.

The truck, coming from the Jalandhar side, first struck cyclist Ram Lubhaya of local Mehtan Colony, killing him on the spot.Kamaldeep, wife of Ram Lubhaya, sitting on the carrier of the cycle, was seriously injured and taken to hospital.

The truck then ploughed into a scooter, killing its riders Surjit Singh of Chak Bhandal village, near Nakodar and Surinder Singh of Mananwali village, near here.

All the victims were waiting at a signal when the accident took place.
