
ROHTAK, MAY 27: The local police claim to have identified three persons allegedly involved in the murder of Devinder Coach, a student of the Maharishi Dayanand University, according to Superintendent of Police K. K. Sharma. The police conducted raids at the hideouts of the suspects but they were absconding, said Sharma. Meanwhile, the last rites for the deceased were conducted yesterday evening in his native village.
Devinder, a law student IV year who was appearing for an examination, was stabbed and shot in the Law Department yesterday. Devinder had reportedly been dealing in disputed properties of late and rivalry could have led to his murder, according to some. This has been the second murder on the campus in the past six months. In November last year, a former student Rajiv Kera had fallen victim to group rivalry. Devinder had then reportedly favoured Kera8217;s assailants.
Meanwhile, president of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Bhupinder Singh Hooda has expressed shock over the killing and has urged Chief Minister Bansi Lal to step down in the event of government8217;s failure to protect the life and property of common man.
The MDUTA has condemned the incident and demanded beefing up of security on the campus.
