
Nearly 280 NSS volunteers from three constituent colleges of PAU, who are participating in the 10-day special NSS camp being organised from December 9-18, performed many activities on the PAU campus including painting roadsides, clearing roads of the weeds, cleaning roof-tops of some buildings, giving white pant to tree-trunks, applying insecticides to avenue plantation, etc.
According to Programme Coordinator, Dr KS Verma, the volunteers also interacted with Dr Manjit Singh Kang, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, who discussed with them the significance of community building.
Dr Verma informed that a special spiritual lecture for the benefit of students was organised in the Pal auditorium in which Brahma Kumari Saras Didi, B.K. Sushma Didi and Brahma Kumar Vishal deliberated on the importance of meditation in modern times.
The activities are being supervised by the Programme Officers, Dr HS Saralch, Dr JP Singh, Dr Damanjit Kaur and Dr Asha Chawla. Dr Verma said that the students would be taken to Ladhowal farm of PAU, where they will take part in the plantation drive. They will also visit Pingalwara ashram in Amritsar.
The concluding function on December 18 will be chaired by Dr Kang wherein the participants will be awarded certificates for their performance in the National Integration Camp held at Hisar. Dr Verma said that the three best campers will be honoured on the occasion.
