Meanwhile, in order to adhere to the Election Commission’s guidelines, various parties adopted a 10-point resolution here yesterday at a meeting with the returning officer.

The parties resolved not to display any posters except inside the showrooms. Banners would be put up only on the designated and permitted party offices. It was alsodecided to stop defacing walls with slogans and putting up flags at public places. For using loudspeakers, permission for particular vehicles has to be obtained from the Administration.

It was also resolved that flags or posters of any candidate or party would not be pasted on public transport and there would be no election meetings in government buildings.

Show-cause notices had earlier been issued to the Congress and the BJP on why legal action should not be taken against them for defacing the walls in the Union Territory.
