
MADURAI, DECEMBER 20: As many as ten accused in Tirunelveli District who were on bail on Fake papers were rearrested in the last three days by the Tirunelveli police following orders from the HC which had ordered for a probe into the racket.
Police sources said the accused themselves did not know that the bail they had received from the HC was a fake one, though some of them had paid upto Rs one lakh for the same.
Those who had been lodged in the prison had been approached by a group of conmen who had assured them to get them out of the jail on HC bail, and had collected money from them. Later, they had prepared false bail orders faking HC seal, Government seal, and judges’ signatures.
According to one estimate, about 350 to 400 persons hadcome out of the jail on fake documents. Ironically, the first person to come out of the jail on fake bail document was a police official in the rank of dsp, who was charged with raping a girl at Moolakaraipatti.
