1 killed in car blast outside Sonu Nigam’s Karachi show

A car bomb exploded outside a golf club staging a concert by singer Sonu Nigam and Pakistani artists, in Karachi today, killing one person and injuring six others, police said.

The bomb exploded at 10.30 pm (11 pm IST) in a car that attempted to overtake vehicles at a security checkpoint to get into the club, said Abdul Ghaffar Jumani, a police inspector.

The car was blown apart by the explosion and caught fire. No one has claimed responsibility for the blast, police said, adding the concert was not disrupted.
