Guru Tegh Bahadur Shaheedi Diwas 2025 School Holiday: Schools, colleges, and other educational institutions across Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and the National Capital Region (NCR) areas will remain closed on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, on account of Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day. The day is also commemorated locally as ‘Shaheedi Diwas’.
The holiday has been confirmed for all institutions in the region, following official updates from the Delhi Chief Minister and Uttar Pradesh governments.
In Delhi, the government announced that the 350th Shaheedi Diwas will be observed as a public holiday on November 25. All schools in the capital will remain shut for the day. Earlier, the Directorate of Education and Sports had also directed schools and colleges to postpone all physical competitions and sports activities due to the severe air quality, instructing government, aided, and private institutions, including those run by the MCD, NDMC, and Delhi Cantonment Board, to comply with CAQM’s advisory.
For Noida and Ghaziabad, the Uttar Pradesh government recently revised its Shaheedi Diwas holiday from November 24 to November 25, issuing an updated order through the General Administration Department to correct the earlier date. Schools in both districts are expected to issue formal closure notices, and the revised date will apply to all government offices and educational institutions across the state.
Historically, November 24 marks the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, and is commemorated across Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttarakhand through community gatherings and memorial events. For 2025, several northern states including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana are also expected to keep schools closed, though formal notifications may vary based on the state holiday calendar.
