Mumbai Confidential: New posting likely

A major police commissionerate in the state is likely to have a new police chief with the incumbent likely to be moved to a DG rank post in another unit. Contenders for the post have put their hats in the ring to take over the new posting. According to sources, there has been a delay in the transfer on account of the political happenings in the past few days. However, once the dust settles down, the transfers are likely to take place. Those interested in taking over the post are known to have made a beeline to approach CM Eknath Shinde.

After Shifting Sides

Till last week, a daughter of an NCP leader was in the forefront of organising a dialogue on international topics in Mumbai under the banner of an organisation setup by Sharad Pawar. Now the question is whether her dialogue with the Pawar family will continue after her father sided with Ajit Pawar and was sworn in as minister in the BJP-Shiv Sena government.

Two weeks ago, a BJP leader known for making allegations on the Opposition including complaints for an ED probe, was joined in Mantralaya’s lift by three reporters. When asked what he was working on presently, he had replied that his new exposes on Maharashtra Sadan and NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal were coming soon. Last week after NCP leaders joined the ruling alliance, the BJP leader was seen in public only once and when reporters tried to ask him about scams, he locked himself in the car and drove away.

Discontent Visibile

The discomfort in Shiv Sena MLAs – after the joining of Ajit Pawar led NCP – was so overwhelming that on the night when CM Eknath Shinde held a meeting at his official residence, the MLAs refused to have dinner there. Shinde offered to treat them elsewhere which was also denied. Finally, a senior Sena minister took the initiative and tried to take them to his residence.
