Uorfi Javed is not only known for her distinctive fashion appearances but also for always being honest and speaking her mind. She recently left many surprised by revealing that she got her chin fillers dissolved after almost a decade. Taking to her Instagram Stories, the actor shared, “So, I decided to dissolve all my chin fillers! This is a before!” while sharing another picture of herself after the procedure. “‘After!!! No chin fillers!! I am not used to seeing my face like this!! I have had chin fillers for 8-9 years now!”

Let’s understand what chin fillers are and the procedure to dissolve them.

Chin fillers are hyaluronic acid fillers injected to make the chin prominent and increase size. “While the permanent solution for a small chin is a chin implant surgery or a genioplasty, many people do not wish to opt for the surgical option and prefer fillers,” said Dr Shilpi Bhadani, plastic, and aesthetic surgeon, founder, SB Aesthetics, Gurugram.

Such fillers should always be dissolved by an expert, like a plastic surgeon because they are injected near important nerves and vessels, added Dr Bhadani.

She shared that while some dermal fillers may dissolve with a special enzyme, others cannot be reversed. “Hyaluronic acid (HA) is one of the most popular reversible fillers. Other temporary fillers, such as calcium hydroxylapatite and polymethylmethacrylate microspheres, may also respond to this treatment but may cause adverse reactions or other complications,” she told indianexpress.com.

The need for dissolution may arise due to many reasons, and can be done after a few months or years, Dr Bhadani said, explaining that the filler is hyaluronic acid which is available in the gel form for injection to create volume in the tissues.

“Once injected, the filler gets dissolved slowly (within some months to years) owing to the presence of an enzyme called hyaluronidase in the body. But if the we want it to get dissolved earlier, then hyaluronidase enzyme can be injected externally. While the filler is hyaluronic acid, the enzyme which dissolves the filler is hyaluronidase,” explained Dr Bhadani.

But it must always be administered by an expert after conducting an allergic test, as the injection can have adverse reactions, Dr Bhadani told indianexpress.com.

Sometimes, despite getting repeated fillers, one may not like the final outcome and would want to reverse the changes. “One can get fillers again after a week or 10 days of the dissolution process,” said Dr Bhadani.
